Skinplicity Bath & Body has partnered with the Warner Grange in Canby, OR and the Handcrafters Supply Company in Wilsonville, to offer Soapmaking 101 at the Canby Grange and The Handcrafters Supply Store.   Soapmaking 101 is an introductory workshop in which you will learn the basics of cold process soapmaking (how to make soap from scratch) from an HSCG certified soapmaker.  No prior experience is necessary.

In Soapmaking 101, you will:

·         Enjoy a brief history of soapmaking, which dates back to circa 2800 B.C.

·         Learn soapmaking safety and how to properly use equipment & tools

·         Understand the chemistry and process of soapmaking (saponification)

·         Explore common soapmaking ingredients and discover their benefits

·         Learn about natural and cosmetic options for adding color and fragrance

·         Understand how to formulate a cold process soap recipe

·         Learn how to properly cure, cut, and store handmade soap

·         Enjoy a hands on soapmaking project

·         Take home approximately one pound of handmade soap!

·         Soapmaking 101 will teach you everything you need to know to start making soap at home!

·         About the Instructor: Learn to make soap from an expert in the field!  Diana Keefe is an experienced soapmaker and the owner of Skinplicity Bath & Body Boutique.  She holds a CP/HP Soapmaker Certification from the industry's leading professional organization, the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild (HSCG), and a Cosmetology License from the State of Oregon.
